Mr. Farouk Bouasker, President of the Independent High Authority for Elections, received on Monday morning, April 6, 2026, at the Authority\u2019s headquarters, a high-level official delegation from the sister Republic of Senegal, headed by Mr. Biram SENE, Director General of Elections in Senegal. This visit takes place within the framework of a working mission aimed at learning about the Tunisian experience in the management and organization of elections. It follows the decision of the Senegalese higher authorities to establish an independent electoral body in Senegal and the selection of Tunisia\u2019s Independent High Authority for Elections by the Senegalese Directorate General of Elections as a model to emulate.<\/p>\n
During the opening session, the President of the Authority welcomed the Senegalese delegation and emphasized that the Authority\u2019s Council highly appreciates the decision of the Senegalese electoral administration to consider it as a model electoral experience. He noted that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the success of this visit and the achievement of its objectives. In this context, he pointed out that a series of meetings and sessions has been scheduled for the Senegalese delegation with members of the Council and senior officials of the Authority to deliver comprehensive presentations on the legal framework governing the Authority\u2019s work, its mandates, its administrative structure, and the mechanisms for organizing and supervising electoral operations. The discussions will also cover the Authority\u2019s practical experiences in voter registration, monitoring the financing of electoral campaigns, the use of modern technologies in managing the electoral process, monitoring the public space, and strengthening cooperation with partners and civil society representatives, in a way that reinforces the principles of integrity and transparency of electoral operations. The scheduled discussions will also address the challenges faced by the Authority and the approaches adopted to overcome them.<\/p>\n
For his part, the head of the Senegalese delegation expressed his sincere thanks for the Authority\u2019s positive response to this initiative, as well as for the warm welcome and attention extended to the delegation. He praised the commitment of the Authority\u2019s Council to place all available resources at the delegation\u2019s disposal for a full week, until April 11, 2026, and to prepare a comprehensive program covering the various stages of the electoral process, with the participation of the Authority\u2019s most competent experts. He also commended the Authority\u2019s achievements and reaffirmed Senegal\u2019s commitment to benefiting from this experience in the process of establishing a similar independent electoral body in Senegal, as part of South-South cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the electoral field, particularly between Tunisia and Senegal, given the distinguished historical relations linking the two countries at various levels.<\/p>\n
