Working session on the preparation of reports and the authority’s budget for the year 2027

The periodic reports of the Independent High Authority for Elections, as well as the preparation of its draft budget for 2027, were the focus of a working session held at the Authority’s headquarters on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, under the supervision of its President, Mr. Farouk Bouasker, in the presence of Council members and heads of the relevant central departments.

At the beginning of the session, the Director General of Planning and Statistics presented the progress made in preparing the report on the 2025 partial legislative elections in the governorates of Bizerte and Tozeur, as well as the mandate withdrawal operations carried out during the same year in El Gwasem El Gharbia and Cherbane in the governorate of Mahdia. Ongoing preparations for the Authority’s activity report and financial report for 2025, along with its work program for 2027, were also discussed.

For his part, the Director General of Common Services reviewed the progress in preparing the provisional financial statements and the Authority’s financial report for 2025, as well as the main outlines of the draft budget for 2027.

Following these presentations, views were exchanged and several proposals were put forward. A timeline was also established for drafting the reports and the budget project, in preparation for their submission to the Authority’s Council for approval.

On this occasion, the President of the Authority commended the efforts made by those responsible for preparing these reports, highlighting the importance of accuracy, clarity, and comprehensiveness. He also reiterated the importance that the Council places on adhering to the recommended deadlines for drafting the required reports.

In order to facilitate the collection of data and statistics needed for periodic reports, the President called on the various central departments and relevant services to prepare, in the future, quarterly reports on their activities and submit them to the Council. He also requested the Director General of Common Services to issue a circular to all departments and services to identify their needs, in preparation for drafting the budget for the coming year—particularly as 2027 will be an electoral year, with the elections of members of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People to be organized and supervised by the Authority at the end of the year. The President also emphasized the need to prepare for the organization of the upcoming municipal elections under the best possible conditions.
